Located in the far east of Canada, Kolda Kennels is small Alaskan Malamute kennel in Conception Bay South, Newfoundland and Labrador. Currently the only registered, active Alaskan Malamute breeding program in the province, we hope to raise the profile of the Alaskan Malamute here on the island.

We orient our breeding program towards an Alaskan Malamute that is the most versatile possible. Our dogs are companions, working dogs, and are bred for Health, temperament, and to conform to the CKC breed standard.

We were originally transferred the kennel name "Nordic Hope" but before we had a successful breeding we had to spay both our females. With the Nordic Hope foundation gone, we decided to pursue our own dream with a name that bears much meaning for us - Jill's Childhood Malamute - Kolda.

My first best friend left a lasting impression. As a little girl, my first and only childhood pet, other than short-lived fish and a hamster named Oliver – was Kolda. Kolda was adopted at about 3 years old, although details are sketchy and her CKC papers long lost, she was a magnificent friend and my first love, I always knew I would come back to the Alaskan Malamute when conditions were right.

Our vision for Kolda Kennels is a small kennel with time to give each animal the attention, affection and exercise they not only deserve but also need to thrive and lead a meaningful life as part of our family.

We believe in fulfilling our dog’s ancestral purpose. As part of the working dog group, we actively participate in many activities such as sledding and backpacking. We are still new to breeding and there are many things we look forward to doing with our dogs including sledding, skijoring, and weight pulling. Our dogs are companions first, working dogs second, but we are also active in the conformation and obedience rings.
We are members in good standing of the...

Alaskan Malamute Club of America (AMCA)
